- Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes come face to face
- LA Knight U.S. title open challenge
- Mia Yim vs. Nia Jax
- Angel and Berto vs Apollo Crews and Baron Corbin

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of WWE SmackDown on August 30.
With Bash in Berlin taking place on Saturday, this was the go-home show and WWE's final opportunity to push the PLE.
Here is what WWE advertised for this week's show:
Let's take a look at what happened during the final SmackDown before Bash in Berlin.
LA Knight vs. Ludwig Kaiser
- The entranceway was unique due to the way the arena was set up. It was smaller than usual but still looked good.
- Kaiser teasing about bringing back the European title is going to have people asking for it on social media.
- Hearing Michael Cole talk about Kaiser's indie career was so cool. Allowing announcers to do that helps deepen a character.

SmackDown in Berlin opened with LA Knight coming to the ring to a big ovation. He soaked in the applause before speaking about being 27 years since WWE filmed in Germany.
Ludwig Kaiser interrupted to say he thinks Knight should be willing to defend his title against anyone in the world. The Megastar was more than willing to oblige and this turned into a title match during the break.
The German crowd chanted for Kaiser as they locked up. Kaiser made a clean break when he had Knight cornered to show he didn't need to cheat.
This was a solid, competitive match, but it was also somewhat paint-by-numbers. Nobody expected the title to change hands, but the crowd was long for the ride. It was reacting loudly to everything Kaiser did.
Knight won with a BFD and celebrated. The crowd was still pro-Knight, but Kaiser was definitely the favorite.
Result: Knight defeated Kaiser
Grade: B
Notable Moments and Observations
Apollo Crews and Baron Corbin vs. Angel and Berto
- Corbin's little counter by bouncing his legs off the top rope was cool.
- The way Corbin hip-tossed Crews over the top rope onto Angel and Berto looked great.
- Angel and Berto's finisher looked good but will likely looks better against some lighter opponents.

Corbin and Crews took on Berto and Angel in tag team action this week. The rest of Legado Del Fantasma was at ringside for support.
The former Lone Wolf dominated early on but was eventually cornered and taken down with some double-team offense.
Crews was able to match the speed and agility of the real-life cousins while Corbin focused on power moves.
This was an enjoyable match that allowed all four guys to show off their athleticism. Angel and Berto scored a much-needed win that will likely lead to a rematch at some point.
Corbin has adjusted well to being a babyface and is incorporating new things into his moveset to show off his power. If he keeps it up, he could become a popular star in no time.
Result: Angel and Berto defeated Crews and Corbin
Grade: B+
Notable Moments and Observations
Carmelo Hayes vs. Andrade
- How has it been eight years since Owens won the Universal title?
- It took Theory long enough to wise up to Waller's antics.
- Andrade's double stomp on the apron was brutal.
- Melo's superkick looked nasty.
Owens and Rhodes had their final face-to-face meeting before their title match on Saturday. KO seemed to still be hesitant and questioned if Rhodes was at 100%.
The American Nightmare said he loves Owens but is still going to beat him at the PPV. Backstage, A-Town Down Under mocked Crews and Corbin.
Andrade and Carmelo Hayes met for a fourth match this week and it got off to an aggressive start. Both men were looking to make an example out of the other, so the intensity was high.
Every match these two have had is entertaining and this was no exception. WWE has found two men who bring out the best in each other every single time and it was wise to keep putting them in the ring.
They fought through two breaks and had lots of time to put on a fourth classic in their ongoing feud. This will rival anything we see at the PPV for pure excitement.
Hayes tied up their feud at 2-2 with a clean pin following a flying leg drop that caught El Idolo in the face.
Result: Hayes defeated Andrade
Grade: A-
Notable Moments and Observations
Nia Jax vs. Mia Yim
- The video package before this match for Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair was great.
- It was nice to hear Yim's past as a champion in TNA acknowledged.
- The way Jax won was wild. Yim was crushed in that can.

The main event of Friday's show was a Street Fight between Jax and Yim for the women's world title. This match came about after Yim and Jax have had several run-ins in recent weeks.
Michin gave a promo before wheeling a shopping cart full of weapons to the ring. Yim brought the fight to the champion with a kendo stick, but Jax yanked it away and chased her around.
Tiffany Stratton showed up and attacked Michin with the briefcase, but Jax saw her before she could cash in, so Stratton continued helping her. Bayley made her return after several weeks away to drive Tiffy off.
The Irresistible Force put Yim through a table with a Samoan Drop and crushed her in a trash can with her finisher for the win. This was a good bit of chaos. It made Yim look great and gave Jax a strong title defense.
Result: Jax defeated Yim
Grade: B

The Final Word
This week's SmackDown did a great job being both the go-home show before a PPV and a standalone episode with some of its own highlights.
There wasn't a single weak match on the card. The tag match was a fun sprint, Hayes vs. Andrade IV was their best yet, Kaiser got a hero's welcome in Germany, and Yim and Jax used all kinds of weapons to make their encounter entertaining.
Bash in Berlin also got a lot of attention with video packages and segments devoted to almost every match on the card. WWE struck a good balance between building the event and making sure SmackDown was still good.
Andrade and Hayes easily stole the show. They are now tied at 2 wins each, so we will likely have one more encounter to enjoy.
