The Texas Longhorns travel to Ann Arbor Saturday afternoon for a showdown with defending national champions, the Michigan Wolverines in the biggest, marquee match-up of this young 2024 college football season.

Texas enters as the No. 3 seed in the country with a shot at a statement win. The Longhorns hung 52 points on and blanked an outmatched Colorado State team in Week One while Michigan beat Fresno State by 20.

Both of those games were tune-ups, an opportunity to find what works and does not ahead of a high-stakes match that could have repercussions for the loser all the way through to playoff time.

For Michigan, all eyes will be on senior Davis Warren, who took over the starting quarterback job from J.J. McCarthy this season. He was an efficient 15-25 for 118, a touchdown and an interception against Fresno State but did not have the blow away performance some expected.

Quinn Ewers of Texas threw for three touchdowns and 260 yards en route to the Longhorns' dominant showing while Arch Manning stepped in added passing and rushing touchdowns.

How those signal-callers navigate the opposing defenses will ultimately determine the outcome and put the winning team in a position to run at the top of the rankings.
