UFC President Dana White Teases Venture Into Boxing: 'Big Announcements' Coming Soon

Dana White's next venture could be into the world of boxing.

The UFC president teased "big announcements" coming soon, hinting that those announcements involve boxing.

"There will be some big announcements soon," White said. "And let me tell you, if you know anything about me and you go back and look at anything I ever said, I never say anything that I don't do... We've been kicking the whole boxing thing around for a long time but you've never heard me commit and say, 'I'm in.' I'm in."

White has previously delved into the boxing scene, co-promoting Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Conor McGregor in 2017 due to McGregor's contractual status with UFC at the time. Later that year, he said he was "getting into boxing, 100 percent," per ESPN's Dan Rafael.

In the years since the fight, however, White has dialed back his interest in boxing. In 2022, he made comments indicating that he wanted nothing to do with the sport.

"Every time I try to think about doing something with boxing, I go, 'Why would I want to do this to myself?'" White said. "You know what I mean? Why would I even want to dive into this nightmare?"

He even went as far as to say boxing is "a broken business" and would be "an absolute nightmare to try to fix."

But White's stance on boxing has clearly flipped based on his recent comments. In the days leading up to his press conference on Thursday, White hinted about his interest in boxing. He said in an Instagram post earlier this week that he would be in Ireland for the fight between Callum Walsh and Przemek Runowski on Friday.

"I'm jumping on a plane and flying to Dublin, Ireland for the boxing match this weekend," he said.

It's clear White has something boxing-related planned, fans will just have to wait to see what exactly his plans are.
