EA Sports revealed several additions and improvements to Franchise Mode for the upcoming NHL 25 video game in a trailer released Friday.

In addition to a 17-minute deep dive hosted by EA Sports senior game designer Gurn Sumal, EA posted a CliffsNotes version of the Franchise Mode overhaul featuring popular EA NHL YouTuber TacTixHD:

The Franchise Mode hub has a completely new look that will make it easier for players to see all of the important information they need to know, including team stats, division standings and league leaders to name a few.

Gamers can also immerse themselves in Franchise Mode more than ever before with the addition of reviewable box scores for every game.

Now, it is possible to check the stats for any player in any given game, which provides more accurate information that can be used toward making lineup changes, roster moves or trades.

In a similar vein, an award tracking system has been added, meaning gamers can easily click into anyone's player card and see every major award they have won over the course of their NHL career.

Perhaps the biggest additions for players who crave realism in Franchise Mode are the incorporation of no-trade/no-movement clauses and the ability to move draft picks when updating rosters.

For the first time ever in NHL Franchise Mode, when negotiating contracts with players, both limited and full no-trade or no-movement clauses can be included, which will add another layer of strategy to contract negotiations and trades.

As for those who insist on having the most up-to-date rosters possible before starting a Franchise Mode, NHL 25 will allow gamers to move five years of draft picks on the player movement screen.

That means every team can have the proper roster and draft capital entering Franchise Mode without having to wait for an EA Sports-issued roster update.

Never will that feature be more valuable than trade deadline time when much of the league will be trading away and bringing in picks.

NHL 25 will officially drop Oct. 4 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, which is the same day the 2024-25 NHL regular season opens with a game between the New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres in Czechia.
