Meek Mill Outbid for Rare LeBron James Autograph Card That Sold for $432K at Auction

The bidding for a rare LeBron James rookie trading card at the "Holy Grails" auction presented by Sotheby's and Fanatics Collect featured a famous participant who fell short of the winning bid.

After the 2003-04 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Rookie Patch Auto LeBron James 69/99 - BGS 8/Autograph 10 sold for $432,000 to an online bidder following a nearly four-minute bidding battle, Darren Rovell of cllct.com reported that hip-hop artist Meek Mill was one of the people who were outbid for the rare collectible.

Sotheby's described the card as "one of the most important modern rookie cards ever made" and added that it "represents the founding inspiration for one of the most important trading card sets of all time."

The night wasn't a total loss for Meek Mill, as he later won the auction for an autographed rookie card of Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry:

In addition to Meek Mill attending the star-studded auction, legendary quarterback Tom Brady showed up as well as New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Former NFL players Channing Crowder and Ryan Clark and former NBA big man Tacko Fall were also on hand for the event.
