WWE SummerSlam 2025 Announced for New Jersey's MetLife Stadium

WWE head of creative Triple H announced Thursday that SummerSlam will be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, next year.

The show will take place on Aug. 2 and 3, making it the first-ever SummerSlam to be a two-night event.

WWE previously announced that SummerSlam 2026 would be a two-night show emanating from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

WWE transitioned WrestleMania from one night to two nights starting with WrestleMania 36 in 2020, and the company has stuck with the well-received change ever since.

A strong argument can be made for SummerSlam being WWE's second-biggest premium live event of the year, and going to two nights figures to allow WWE to both maximize profits and get as many big matches as possible on the card.

Next year will also mark the fifth consecutive year SummerSlam has been held in an NFL stadium, as 2021 was in the Las Vegas Raiders' Allegiant Stadium, 2022 was in the Tennessee Titans' Nissan Stadium, 2023 was in the Detroit Lions' Ford Field and this year was in Cleveland Browns Stadium.

East Rutherford has been a popular SummerSlam location over the years, as 2025 will mark the fourth time the biggest show of the summer has been held there.

SummerSlam previously took place at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford in 1989, 1997 and 2007.

The New York Giants' and Jets' shared MetLife Stadium is no stranger to major WWE events either.

WrestleMania 29 and WrestleMania 35 were showcased at MetLife Stadium despite it being an open-air venue in the northeast. While weather was a concern for those shows, SummerSlam 2025 shouldn't present any issues in the month of August.

With Thursday's announcement, WWE now has the locations for the 2025 and 2026 SummerSlam events in place. It was also announced in June that Indianapolis would host a future two-night SummerSlam, perhaps in 2027.
