Best and Worst Davante Adams NFL Fantasy Football Landing Spots if Raiders Trade WR

The greatest impact of a potential Davante Adams trade is whether the former All-Pro receiver can make a Super Bowl-type impact.

Plenty of us are looking through a fantasy football lens, too.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Adams prefers a reunion with former quarterback Aaron Rodgers on the New York Jets. However, the Las Vegas Raiders are expected to pursue "the best deal from the highest bidder" for Adams and not necessarily meet his wishes.

Operating under that belief, we've picked out five reasonable landing spots and focused on the fantasy side of a potential deal.

The short version: Adams bolsters any of these real-life rosters, but a couple of them aren't very attractive for your fantasy team.

Best: Buffalo Bills

As a handful of franchises stand out, what better place to start than the best-case fantasy scenario?

The reality is the Buffalo Bills both invited and accepted this outlook at wide receiver. They traded Stefon Diggs, basically didn't prioritize the position in free agency and used a first-round pick on Keon Coleman but never touted him as the immediate replacement.

So, four games in, the offense's top receiver is Khalil Shakir with 18 catches for 230 yards and two touchdowns. Behind him, it goes tight end Dalton Kincaid and either Coleman or running back James Cook.

Fine, yes, but nothing close to special.

Adams would immediately be the Bills' key target, and quarterback Josh Allen isn't a stranger to throwing 30-plus passes per game. Unless the Los Angeles Rams boldly decided to join the sweepstakes, there isn't an offense with greater upside for Adams' fantasy outlook.

Worst: Baltimore Ravens

Does he improve the roster? Yes.

Should the Baltimore Ravens entertain the idea? Also yes! According to Rapoport, they either have inquired about him or are listed as a preferred destination. Maybe there's some traction.

    The problem is Tractorcito.

Running back Derrick Henry has excelled early in 2024, rushing for 480 yards and five touchdowns so far. Baltimore has typically had a run-heavy offense to capitalize on Lamar Jackson's mobility anyway, and it's only sensible to continue riding this backfield.

Bringing in Adams would be a positive for an offense that lacks a consistently dangerous pass-catcher. From a fantasy perspective, though, Adams is unlikely to waltz in and be a 100-yard weapon each week.

Good for the Ravens, not so much for fantasy.

Best: New York Jets

On one hand, I'm not sold Adams is the "missing piece" in this situation. There are deeper issues on the New York Jets.

But, hey, he'd probably get like 16 targets per week!

While that's an exaggeration, of course, I'm confident it wouldn't take Aaron Rodgers and Adams long to uncover their old timing. When they shared the field with the Green Bay Packers, whew, it was special.

The value of a quarterback being able to trust a receiver to run a route exactly this way at exactly this moment is immense. Rodgers might develop that rapport with Garrett Wilson or Mike Williams throughout the 2024 season, but the learning curve wouldn't exist with Adams.

Again, the Jets might finish 8-9 if they trade for Adams. He'd probably put up respectable numbers along the way, though.

Worst: Pittsburgh Steelers

Regularly mentioned in rumors for Brandon Aiyuk this offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers are an obvious trade candidate.

Similar to Baltimore, though, the team's philosophy isn't a match.

Pittsburgh is content to lean on running back Najee Harris. Plus, quarterback Justin Fields' mobility will continue being featured as long as he's the starter—and the Steelers aren't rushing back Russell Wilson.

George Pickens is a passable No. 1 option, yet he's collected 20 receptions for 284 yards and zero touchdowns in four games. This offense can hardly support one wideout in fantasy, and 3-1 Pittsburgh likely wouldn't dramatically alter its playing style because it adds Adams.

Bring him in, Steelers. On your fantasy team, though, don't expect an incredible jump in the box score.

Best: Washington Commanders

This is the ideal moment to take a risk.

Sure, he's only played four NFL games, but Jayden Daniels looks like a cornerstone piece. Now, the Washington Commanders have an opportunity to take advantage of his inexpensive rookie contract.

During the recent offseason, the C.J. Stroud-led Houston Texans embraced that mentality when trading for Stefon Diggs. Washington could take a comparable route, pairing Adams and young standout Terry McLaurin as the Texans did with Diggs and Nico Collins.

Houston is already showing it can work, too. In traditional PPR leagues, Collins opened Week 5 as the NFL's second-best fantasy receiver with Diggs not far behind in ninth.

McLaurin and Adams can coexist in Washington.
