Texans' Nico Collins Out vs. Bills After Suffering Hamstring Injury on 67-Yard TD
October 6, 2024
The Houston Texans took a blow to their receiver group on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
Star wide receiver Nico Collins suffered a hamstring injury in the first half and is now listed as out for the remainder of the contest, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Before the injury, Collins had two receptions for 78 yards, picking up a 67-yard receiving touchdown in the first quarter.
Collins entered Sunday's matchup leading the league in receiving yards with 489 and had a pair of touchdowns. He's recorded a whopping 122.3 receiving yards per game through the first four games of the year.
The fourth-year player is coming off a breakout season that saw him collect 1,297 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, both career highs, in 15 games. He's seemingly on his way to having an even better year in 2024, but a hamstring injury could derail his progress.
Luckily for Houston, depth isn't a major issue in its wide receiver room. The addition of Stefon Diggs over the offseason means quarterback C.J. Stroud will still have a star talent to throw to, and second-year receiver Tank Dell is another solid option.
Diggs came into Sunday's game with 233 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns while Dell had 99 yards on nine receptions, though he missed the Texans' Week 4 matchup with a chest injury.
Houston is looking to follow up an impressive 2023 season with more improvement in 2024, and it's off to a good start. The Texans were 3-1 coming into Sunday with their only loss coming to the Minnesota Vikings, who improved to 5-0 on Sunday.
