NFL Rumors: Packers' Romeo Doubs Plans to Attend Wednesday Practice After Suspension
October 7, 2024
Amid a suspension that forced him to miss Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs plans to attend practice on Wednesday, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
According to Fowler, Doubs had a meeting with the team on Monday that "went well."
According to Sports Illustrated's Bill Huber, Doubs skipped Thursday and Friday's practices because he was "upset with his opportunities in the passing game." The missed practices led to the suspension.
"Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to suspend Romeo for this week's game," Packers general manager Brian Guntekunst said, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. "His decisions and actions during the week negatively impacted the team and required us to take this action. While we are certainly disappointed, we are confident that we will be able to move forward in a positive manner. Romeo is a valuable member of our team and we look forward to welcoming him back next week."
Following the suspension, teams called the Packers to check in on Doubs' availability, but Green Bay showed no interest in trading him, per CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones.
Doubs has brought in 12 of his 20 targets this season, recording 169 passing yards through four games. The third-year player is coming off a season in which he had 674 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, both career highs.
Doubs is the Packers' third-leading receiver behind Jayden Reed, who has 414 yards and two touchdowns, and tight end Tucker Kraft, who has 218 yards and three touchdowns.
Green Bay improved to 3-2 after a win over the Rams on Sunday and will take on the Arizona Cardinals this week, a game where it will hope to have Doubs back on the field after the suspension.
