Video: Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul Fight Hyped in Netflix Trailer Ahead of Nov. 15 Bout
October 15, 2024
The highly anticipated fight between heavyweight legend Mike Tyson and YouTuber Jake Paul is a month away on Nov. 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, live on Netflix.
On Tuesday, the streaming giant unveiled a trailer that is sure to excite fans for its first live combat sports event:
The trailer opens with Tyson's famous quote, "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." It then bills Paul as "the disruptor" going up against "the baddest man on the planet" in Tyson.
"This is the fight the world's been waiting for," the trailer declared. "What happens next? Only one way to know."
Paul and Tyson were originally set to face each other on July 20, but an ulcer flare-up caused Tyson to withdraw from the match. Paul still chose to fight on that date and defeated Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship star Mike Perry by sixth-round TKO to improve his professional record to 10-1.
While fans are looking forward to seeing the icon Tyson (50-6, 2 NC) return to the ring, many have criticized the matchup against Paul due to their massive age difference. The former heavyweight champion is 58 years old going up against a 27-year-old in the prime of his young career. The health scare from Tyson before the original fight date only furthered the concerns about him facing Paul.
This will be Tyson's first boxing match since his exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020, which ended in a split draw. The fight has been sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations as a professional bout that will count toward both their records.
It's clear that the fight between Tyson and Paul will draw a massive audience. Paul even went as far as predicting that 25 million viewers would tune in, which would make it the most-watched boxing match of all time.
Tuesday's trailer is sure to continue building excitement among fans as the match draws nearer.
