There is no drama for the Seattle Seahawks between Geno Smith and DK Metcalf after a disappointing 36-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football in Week 6.

Per Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune, Metcalf called Smith three days later to take the blame for running a bad route that led to an interception by 49ers cornerback Renardo Green midway through the fourth quarter.

Metcalf followed that up on Wednesday during his weekly press conference by explaining what happened on the play.

"Yeah, that was definitely my fault," Metcalf said (via Bell). "I was drifting up the field. Saw open space. Trying to do too much, and let the DB undercut the route. And I should have been staying flat."

Smith told reporters on Thursday that he appreciated Metcalf wanting to take accountability, but the play was a combination of things more than it was any one player's fault.

"Yeah, it just speaks volumes to the type of person he is, the amount of character he has. Honestly, he didn't have to say that," Smith said (via Bell). "Obviously, I'm happy that he took accountability and said that. But it's on me as well for throwing the ball. So it's not just on him, it's on both of us. It's on all of us as an offense."

There was also a moment during the game when Metcalf took a headset from an assistant coach and spoke directly to offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb.

He told his <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Seahawks?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Seahawks</a> OC: "We've got to run by defenders. That's what I was telling him."

The Seahawks got off to a slow start in the game with just 69 yards of offense and two turnovers on their first five possessions. The 49ers eventually built up a 23-3 lead before Seattle scored 14 unanswered points to make it a one-possession game.

Smith's interception to Green set up a short field for the Niners, who got into the end zone three players to extend their lead to 29-17 with 6:20 remaining.

Seattle responded with a 70-yard touchdown drive, but it took more than four minutes off the clock. San Francisco went 81 yards after getting the ball back, capped off by a Kyle Juszczyk touchdown that sealed the win.

The Seahawks have lost three straight games after a 3-0 start to the season. Their 10 turnovers are tied for fourth-most in the NFL. Their minus-six turnover differential is the third-worst in the league, ahead of only the Las Vegas Raiders (minus-10) and Tennessee Titans (minus-seven).
