Sherrone Moore, No. 24 Michigan Called Out By CFB Fans After Loss to No. 22 Illinois
October 19, 2024
The Michigan Wolverines dropped Saturday's game against the Illinois Fighting Illini 21-7 at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois.
Under first-year head coach Sherrone Moore, the Wolverines fell to 4-3 on the season, while the Fighting Illini improved to 6-1, marking the first time Illinois has defeated Michigan since 2009.
Illinois took a 13-7 lead heading into halftime, putting on a defensive clinic against the short-handed Wolverines that included five sacks, all resulting in losses.
Michigan's starting cornerback and projected top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Will Johnson exited Saturday's game with a noticeable limp and an apparent lower-leg injury towards the end of the second quarter, according to ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.
Wolverines quarterback Jack Tuttle finished the day with 20 completions on 32 attempts for 208 yards, along with one interception and two fumbles.
Following the loss, which felt more significant than it appeared on paper, fans took to social media to express their distress at the 2024 National Champions that finished 15-0 last season.
