MLB World Series 2024: Players Who Can Earn New Contracts after Fall Classic Bracket

The second the 2024 World Series officially ends, the Juan Soto sweepstakes can begin.
The New York Yankees' star outfielder is the prized free agent in the Major League Baseball offseason and he should sign one of the biggest contracts in the sport's history.
Soto has been fantastic throughout the Yankees' run to the Fall Classic, where they will face either the New York Mets or Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Mets have their own free-agent issues to figure out with Pete Alonso set to hit the open market.
Los Angeles made its big splash last offseason by landing Shohei Ohtani, who could go big hit-for-big hit against Soto if the Dodgers get one more win in the NLCS.
The Dodgers' top trade deadline acquisition, Jack Flaherty, will be pitching for larger contract offers in the Fall Classic if his team makes it there. He is the top pitching free agent among the three teams still alive in the postseason.
Juan Soto

Multiple teams could offer mega-contracts to Juan Soto this offseason.
He will be that much of a priority for teams like the Yankees, Mets and other top spenders in Major League Baseball.
The Yankees' one-year rental of Soto through a trade last offseason with the San Diego Padres has more than paid off so far.
Soto delivered the series-clinching home run over the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday. He had three home runs and six RBI in the ALCS.
Soto will be under an incredibly bright spotlight in the World Series, but its something he can handle since he experienced it once already with the Washington Nationals.
The outfielder's contract demands should be enormous because of how he impacts the game in every single way.
The Mets and Philadelphia Phillies are among the top spenders in the National League that should go after Soto.
But the Yankees may make him an offer he can't refuse, and if they win the World Series, there is a chance for him to start the newest Yankees dynasty alongside Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.
Pete Alonso

Pete Alonso ranks high among the top non-Soto hitters on the free-agent market.
The New York Mets slugger could generate a few more suitors than Soto because his price tag will be lower than the top free agent.
Alonso could become a lineup centerpiece for any one of potential World Series contenders in 2025 and beyond.
The Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers and Seattle Mariners are among the teams that fit the category of potential contenders in need of a power bat.
The Mets will likely do their best to keep Alonso in the middle of their order as they continue to build in what could be the start of a championship window.
If the Yankees keep Soto, the pressure will be on the Mets to hold on to Alonso that way they can at least attempt to keep up with their cross-town rival.
Jack Flaherty

Jack Flaherty's one-year gamble appears to have paid off.
Flaherty turned in a strong first half with the Detroit Tigers that made him one of the top trade deadline targets.
The Los Angeles Dodgers landed him and he will likely start two games in the World Series if the NL West champion gets to the Fall Classic.
Flaherty marveled in his first NLCS start at home with seven shutout innings, but he was rocked by the Mets in a three-inning outing in Game 5.
If the NLCS Game 1 version of Flaherty shows up in the World Series, he has the potential to increase his value even more.
At 29 with a strong season behind him, Flaherty should command a multi-year deal at minimum.
The Dodgers should look into retaining Flaherty because they have so many long-term pitching injuries to deal with, but they will likely face a ton of competition from across baseball to secure Flaherty for multiple seasons.
