Panthers' Andy Dalton Involved in Car Crash; QB Being Evaluated by Team
October 22, 2024
Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton and his family were involved in a car crash in Charlotte on Tuesday, but nobody required transportation from emergency medical personnel.
Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reported a team spokesperson confirmed as much and noted the quarterback is "being evaluated" by the Panthers. Dalton's wife, three children and dog were also in the car but did not require emergency treatment in the aftermath of the accident.
No other details were given regarding the incident.
This is Dalton's 14th season in the NFL and second with the Panthers. He previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints.
While he started the season as the backup to Bryce Young, Panthers head coach Dave Canales benched the second-year signal-caller in favor of the veteran following an 0-2 start. Dalton led the Panthers to a victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in his first start.
However, Carolina lost the previous four games ahead of its Week 8 matchup with the Denver Broncos.
Canales told reporters Monday that Dalton was in line to start against the Broncos.
