Uncrustables have increasingly become part of an NFL player's diet, according to The Athletic's Jayson Jenks.

Jenks wrote Thursday the pre-packaged peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are hugely popular in NFL locker rooms, to the point that at least 80,000 Uncrustables are consumed throughout the league across an entire season.

Per Jenks, the Denver Broncos scarf down 700 sandwiches a week, which is the highest estimate in the NFL. The Seattle Seahawks are second with 320 sandwiches. Maybe that's the secret to Denver's 4-3 record and second-place position in the AFC West.

For fans unfamiliar with the Uncrustable, it's a rounded PB&J mass-produced by Smuckers. Their portability has made them an easy food for NFL players to grab on the go, and they provide some carbohydrates, proteins and fat to offer a small nutritional boost.

"San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle eats two on flights to road games and anywhere from two to four on flights home," Jenks wrote. "Chiefs defensive end Mike Danna eats them at the team facility and at home. Ravens kicker Justin Tucker grabs one from the snack table on his way to meetings. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce claimed on his podcast that he eats more of them than 'anything else in the world.'"

The Baltimore Banner's Giana Han first offered a peek into this growing trend when she wrote in January how the Baltimore Ravens go though between 30 and 60 packs of Uncrustables a day.

Former Indianapolis Colts center Jeff Saturday may have hit on the biggest reason why this has caught on so much throughout the NFL. He told Jenks that players are "creatures of habit." Once the Uncrustables entered the locker room, there was no stopping them.
