At least Dwyane Wade likes his statue.

The Miami Heat unveiled the statue they commissioned in honor of the 13-time All-Star and three-time NBA champion. Fans were immediately struck by how it didn't seem to resemble Wade all that much.

The Miami Heat should've had a contest where they showed this picture to 1,000 fans — and anyone who guesses it's Dwyane Wade gets to keep the statue. pic.twitter.com/sqG6pFaOUz

This counts as Dwyane Wade not getting his statue. https://t.co/9qGQOrjmaE

It was a hit with the man of the hour, though, and that's what matters the most.

"I was just like, 'That's beautiful," Wade told reporters of when he saw it for the first time. "I'm biased, but I think it's one of the best statues that's been created because of what it represents for us and for me."

A similar situation occurred in 2017, when the bust of soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo was immortalized for a piece at the airport near his hometown in Madeira, Portugal. The bust was widely panned, and Emanuel Santos told Bleacher Report in a 2018 interview he struggled to deal with all of the criticism.

Hopefully the person behind Wade's statue doesn't meet quite the same level of mockery.
