Cowboys' Dak Prescott Takes Blame for TOs; Says 'I Don't Have to Be Perfect' to Win
October 29, 2024
After throwing a pair of interceptions for the third straight game in Sunday night's loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is owning up to his mistakes.
Prescott, whose eight interceptions this year are tied for the second-most in the NFL, told ESPN's Todd Archer that he knows he needs to stop turning the ball over for the Cowboys to be successful this season.
"I don't have to be perfect, but I sure can't be having the turnovers," Prescott said, adding, "Once again, we put ourselves behind in the turnover battle, and that's on me. Can't have that if you're planning to win games. I've got to clean that up, period."

Prescott threw nine interceptions in 17 games last season, so his uptick in turnovers this year is reason for concern.
The 31-year-old has also been unable to overcome his struggles against the 49ers, as he's now 0-4 in his last four starts against them. According to ESPN Research, in those four games he "has had the worst touchdown-to-interception ratio (5:8), worst yards per attempt (6.0) and worst completion percentage (60 percent) of any opponent he has faced multiple times in the past five seasons."
At 3-4, the Cowboys are facing the risk of falling into an early hole in the competitive NFC. Dallas will be facing another conference powerhouse when it meets the NFC South-leading Atlanta Falcons (5-3) this Sunday. Prescott will need to be at his best to help the Cowboys end their two-game skid and get back on track.
