With eight weeks of the 2024 NFL season now behind us, it's separation time in fantasy football.

Whether you're fighting for a playoff spot or jostling for a preferred postseason seed, your chances of completing this task could be on a time crunch. You might have a handful of weeks at most to get this done, so it's time to start stacking wins and giving yourself a shot at championship bliss.

With Week 9 lineups to set, let's jump right in with rankings and point-per-reception projections at each of the three flex positions, plus a bonus sleeper pick at every spot.

Running Back

    Top 20

    1. Saquon Barkley, PHI (vs. JAX): 21.1 projected points

    2. Kyren Williams, LAR (at SEA): 19.0 points

    3. Derrick Henry, BAL (vs. DEN): 18.6 points

    4. Bijan Robinson, ATL (vs. DAL): 18.4 points

    5. Kenneth Walker III, SEA (vs. LAR): 18.3 points

    6. Alvin Kamara, NO (at CAR): 17.7 points

    7. James Cook, BUF (vs. MIA): 17,2 points

    8. Jonathan Taylor, IND (at MIN): 17.1 points

    9. Jahmyr Gibbs, DET (at GB): 17.0 points

    10. Aaron Jones, MIN (vs. IND): 16.9 points

    11. De'Von Achane, MIA (at BUF): 16.2 points

    12. Kareem Hunt, KC (vs. TB): 16.1 points

    13. David Montgomery, DET (at GB): 15.4 points

    14. D'Andre Swift, CHI (at ARI): 14.8 points

    15. James Conner, ARI (vs. CHI): 14.1 points

    16. Josh Jacobs, GB (vs. DET): 13.9 points

    17. Chase Brown, CIN (vs. LV): 13.8 points

    18. Tony Pollard, TEN (vs. NE): 13.8 points

    19. Chuba Hubbard, CAR (vs. NO): 13.6 points

    20. J.K. Dobbins, LAC (at CLE): 13.5 points

Sleeper: Alexander Mattison, LV (at CIN)

It feels entirely possible that at some point Mattison's inefficiency will torpedo his opportunities. He has run for 2.5 yards per carry or less in three of his last four outings. He needs to show more soon, or the Raiders could wind up looking elsewhere.

All of that said, Las Vegas hasn't turned away from him yet. In fact, the team tasked him with 66 carries and 16 targets (15 were caught) over the past four games, while head coach Antonio Pierce publicly committed to Mattison as the starting running back. Mattison's volume might remain high, in other words, and he could find it easier to operate against Cincinnati than it was versus Kansas City, Pittsburgh and Denver.

    Top 20

    1. CeeDee Lamb, DAL (at ATL): 22.1 points

    2. Justin Jefferson, MIN (vs. IND): 21.5 points

    3. Ja'Marr Chase, CIN (vs. LV)/: 19.9 points

    4. A.J. Brown, PHI (vs. JAX): 19.3 points

    5. Amon-Ra St. Brown, DET (at GB): 18.5 points

    6. Malik Nabers, NYG (vs. WAS): 17.7 points

    7. Puka Nacua, LAR (at SEA): 17.3 points

    8. Tyreek Hill, MIA (at BUF): 16.9 points

    9. Drake London, ATL (vs. DAL): 16.8 points

    10. Cooper Kupp, LAR (at SEA): 16.5 points

    11. Terry McLaurin, WAS (at NYG): 15.7 points

    12. Chris Olave, NO (at CAR): 15.5 points

    13. Josh Downs, IND (at MIN): 14.7 points

    14. Marvin Harrison Jr., ARI (vs. CHI): 14.3 points

    15. DeVonta Smith, PHI (vs. JAX): 14.1 points

    16. Zay Flowers, BAL (vs. DEN): 13.7 points

    17. DJ Moore, CHI (at ARI): 13.6 points

    18. Jayden Reed, GB (vs. DET): 13.3 points

    19. Ladd McConkey, LAC (at CLE): 13.1 points

    20. Jakobi Meyers, LV (at CIN): 12.9 points

Sleeper: Xavier Worthy, KC (vs. TB)

Worthy has video-game upside. Between his record-setting speed and Patrick Mahomes' huge arm, you'd think these two would be responsible for weekly fantasy fireworks.

That hasn't really come to fruition, but after seeing 22 targets (plus two carries) over the past three contests, it feels like Worthy might be trending toward an explosion. There is no better time than the present with Kansas City set to tussle with a Tampa Bay defense allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to wide receivers.

Tight End

    Top 10

    1. Brock Bowers, LV (at CIN): 14.1 points

    2. Travis Kelce, KC (vs. TB): 13.9 points

    3. David Njoku, CLE (vs. LAC): 13.2 points

    4. Trey McBride, ARI (vs. CHI): 12.6 points

    5. Evan Engram, JAX (at PHI): 12.2 points

    6. Kyle Pitts, ATL (vs. DAL): 11.7 points

    7. Cade Otton, TB (at KC): 11.4 points

    8. Sam LaPorta, DET (at GB): 10.9 points

    9. Jake Ferguson, DAL (at ATL): 10.6 points

    10. Mark Andrews, BAL (vs. DEN): 10.1 points

Sleeper: Hunter Henry, NE (at TEN)

With Drake Maye cleared to start Sunday, it could be all systems go for Patriots pass-catchers. That absolutely includes Henry, who produced 11 receptions on 14 targets for 133 yards and a score during Maye's two complete games.

The Titans have been mostly stingy against tight ends, but that changed in a big way last week, as both LaPorta and his backup, Brock Wright, tallied touchdown catches against them.
