Patrick Mahomes Hypes Leo Chenal After Blocked FG, Says Chiefs Call LB 'John Cena'
November 10, 2024
Following the Kansas City Chiefs' 16-14 victory over the Denver Broncos, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes praised linebacker Leo Chenal, who helped preserve the Chiefs' undefeated season with a crucial blocked field goal.
"He has the strength of a defensive lineman as a linebacker," Mahomes told reporters post-game. "We all call him John Cena."
The 6'3" Chenal rushed off the right edge to block a potential game-winning field goal by Broncos kicker Wil Lutz.
Chenal recorded four tackles on top of his blocked field goal attempt.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid further commended Chenal for his hard work following the effort that preserved the Chiefs' perfect 9-0 season.
"Leo steps up and does what Leo does every week," Reid told reporters. "Somewhere he steps up and makes a play."
On a day when Mahomes didn't throw a touchdown pass in the second half—finishing 28-of-42 for 266 yards and one touchdown—the 24-year-old linebacker stepped up for the Chiefs in the end.
The Chiefs will look to continue its perfect season next Sunday against the Buffalo Bills on the road.
