Colts HC: Joe Flacco Will Be QB1 Over Anthony Richardson 'Until I Say Otherwise'
November 10, 2024
Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen made no indication that a change is coming under center after another rough performance from Joe Flacco.
Steichen said that, despite another loss, Flacco will remain the starter over Anthony Richardson until he feels a change is needed.
"Until I say otherwise, we're sticking with Joe," Steichen said, per WTHR's Dominic Miranda.
In the 30-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Flacco had 272 passing yards and two touchdowns but threw three interceptions. Against the Minnesota Vikings last week, Flacco threw for 179 passing yards and one interception.

Richardson, who has played six games, has 958 passing yards, four touchdowns and seven interceptions with a 57.9 quarterback rating, which is the worst in the NFL among quarterbacks who have played at least five games.
Richardson's rough start led to the Colts benching him in favor of Flacco ahead of their Week 9 matchup against the Vikings.
Before Week 9, Flacco had previously started two games for Indianapolis when Richardson was sidelined with an oblique injury in Weeks 5 and 6. Flacco played well in those games, throwing for 359 passing yards and three touchdowns against the Jacksonville Jaguars before posting 189 passing yards, a pair of touchdowns and an interception against the Tennessee Titans.
Though Richardson might not get a chance to be the starter any time soon, the Colts clearly haven't given up on him. Ahead of the NFL trade deadline last week, ESPN's Stephen Holder reported that Indianapolis received calls about Richardson, but the Colts told teams he was "off limits."
That's a good indication that Indianapolis has faith he can turn things around after a rocky start to his career.
Richardson is still young at just 22 years old and has played just 10 games over the course of his two-year career. That leaves him with ample time to continue developing and perhaps one day regain the starting spot for the Colts.
