    Bleacher Report

The AFC and NFC playoff races are breaking in different ways.

The AFC has six clear postseason teams and four squads are fighting for the final wild-card spot after Week 11.

Over in the NFC, there are seven teams with at least six wins a two-game gap between the Washington Commanders and the wild-card contenders for the No. 7 seed.

However, the NFC is one set of results away from a total overhaul of how we view the wild-card race since there are three teams at 5-5 and two at 4-6.

The drop off to the bad teams is more significant in the AFC with a 5-6, 4-6 and 4-7 team directly under the Denver Broncos in seventh.

The Buffalo Bills proved they are on the same level of the AFC stratosphere as the Kansas City Chiefs with their head-to-head win in Week 11.

The win means more to Buffalo from a psychological standpoint at the moment since it is still a half-game back of the Chiefs in the hunt for the No. 1 overall seed.

Kansas City should trample the Carolina Panthers while the Bills are on their Week 12 bye, so the gap will grow to one game for the closing stretch.

If the Houston Texans beat the Dallas Cowboys on Monday, as expected, three of the four division leads in the AFC will be at least two games.

The Pittsburgh Steelers own a 1.5-game edge on the Baltimore Ravens with a head-to-head tiebreaker now built in from their Week 11 triumph at home.

Baltimore will run a mini-gauntlet over the next few weeks, as it takes on the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia before its Week 14 bye. Next Monday's clash with the Chargers will go a long way in determining which team lands the No. 5 seed in the AFC.

The Ravens and Chargers each have a head-to-head win over the Broncos, so Denver needs to be near-perfect to climb out of the final wild-card spot.

At minimum, Denver should keep its spot in the playoff places in the next two weeks since it faces the Las Vegas Raiders and Cleveland Browns.

The gap to the Indianapolis Colts could grow to two full games in Week 12 since the Colts play the Detroit Lions.

It's hard to see the Colts, Miami Dolphins or any other team making a run at the No. 7 seed in the coming weeks given Denver's upcoming schedule.

    16. New York Giants (2-8)

The NFC wild-card race has the potential to get far more exciting than the one going down in the AFC.

The Washington Commanders need to stop their two-game slide, which they likely will do in Week 12 against the Dallas Cowboys, but pressure will still come from the NFC West.

The Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers are all 5-5. They are all chasing down the last wild-card spot and the first place in the NFC West.

All three of them face season-altering games in Week 12. The Rams host Philadelphia, Seattle welcomes Arizona to the pacific northwest and San Francisco visits the Green Bay Packers.

A 49ers win in Green Bay would drag the Packers closer to the pack in the wild-card race with three NFC North games still left to play.

More drama could from the other three divisions if the Lions, Eagles and Atlanta Falcons slip up in Week 12.

Atlanta is on a two-game slide, but its buffer over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC South should still make them feel comfortable going into Week 12.

No one looks like they are beating Detroit at the moment, which is bad news for Minnesota and Green Bay's division-winning aspirations.

Philadelphia and Washington are trending in different directions in the NFC East. Washington needs a Rams win over the Eagles in Week 12 to make things more interesting in that division race.
