Though Georgia still has the SEC championship game and likely a College Football Playoff appearance ahead of it, one player has already made his plans for after the season.

Sophomore cornerback Julian Humphrey announced on social media Sunday that he plans to enter the transfer portal this offseason. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

"First and foremost, I would like to thank the man above for everything he has done for me, and I will forever be grateful for everything," Humphrey wrote. "I also wanted to say thank you to all of the loyal UGA fans along the way. With that being said, after careful consideration, I will be entering my name in the portal."

Humphrey appeared in seven games last season, logging 11 tackles and a pass deflection. He started the first 10 games of the season for the Bulldogs this year before losing his starting job to sophomore defensive back Daniel Harris ahead of Georgia's matchup with UMass two weeks ago.

Humphrey has 10 tackles and four pass deflections this season. It's unclear whether he will play any more games this year.

Humphrey was considered to be a 4-star prospect, the No. 81 player and the No. 9 cornerback in the Class of 2022 by 247Sports Composite. He held offers from Alabama, Florida and other top programs along with Georgia.

According to ESPN's Mark Schlabach, Humphrey almost entered the transfer portal last season but opted to return for another season in Athens.

Humphrey's decision to transfer comes less than a week before No. 7 Georgia will take on No. 3 Texas in the SEC title game.

Georgia, which beat Texas 30-15 in their regular season meeting in October, has losses to Alabama and Ole Miss. On Friday, it survived an eight-overtime thriller against rival Georgia Tech to keep its CFP hopes alive. A win for the Bulldogs next week would guarantee a spot in the College Football Playoff, though they could still receive an at-large bid even with a loss.
