Timothée Chalamet to Serve as 'College GameDay' Guest Picker Before Texas vs. Georgia
December 6, 2024
Oscar season and college football's conference championship weekend will meet on Saturday at the SEC Championship Game.
ESPN announced that actor Timothée Chalamet will serve as the guest picker on College Gameday in Atlanta prior to the showdown between Georgia and Texas.
The 28-year-old Chalamet already has an Oscar nomination under his belt for his lead performance in the 2017 film Call Me By Your Name. He is in the mix for another nod this year for his turn as Bob Dylan in the upcoming feature A Complete Unknown which will release on Christmas Day.
Since A Complete Unknown is being distributed by Searchlight Pictures—which is owned by Disney, as is ESPN—what better time for Chalamet to get in some promotional work on the network than appearing on arguably the biggest College Gameday of the year?
This will be the second meeting of the season for Georgia and Texas. The Bulldogs handily won the first matchup 30-15 in August on Oct. 19. The winner will almost certainly secure a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff, while the loser is still a safe bet to make the 12-team field when it is announced on Sunday.
This has already been a big year for Chalamet, who reprised his role as Paul Atreides in Dune Part Two. The sequel to the 2021 film is the fifth-highest-grossing movie in the United States so far this year.
Hopefully, Chalamet will make a pick using The Voice from Dune to spice things up on the broadcast.
