MJF defeated Adam Cole in a long-awaited grudge match at AEW Worlds End on Saturday to retain the Dynamite Diamond Ring.

In a brutal, yet brief, blood-soaked match that thrilled the crowd, the two competitors viciously sank their teeth into each other's foreheads, much to the audience's enjoyment.

Matt Taven and Mike Bennett were stationed at ringside to guard the ring for Cole, but MJF managed to get them ejected by cleverly faking an attack from the duo.

Seizing the opportunity during the referee's distraction, Cole grabbed the ring and prepared to strike. However, MJF countered with a low blow, followed by a Heatseeker, to secure the victory via pinfall.

The saga involving MJF and Cole dates back to last year when they formed a reluctant partnership that seemingly blossomed into a real friendship, as they won the ROH World Tag Team Championships together.

Known as Better Than You Bay Bay, MJF and Cole became one of the most popular teams in AEW history, but it turned out that Cole was using MJF in an attempt to get the AEW World Championship.

While they were a team, MJF and Cole had a world title match at All In 2023, which MJF won. They continued to team coming out of All In, but Cole suffered a significant ankle injury that clearly altered the course of their storyline.

After MJF dropped the AEW World Championship to Samoa Joe at Worlds End 2023, Cole revealed himself to be the "Devil" who had been targeting MJF, and he was joined by Roderick Strong, Taven, Bennett and Wardlow.

The momentum of the MJF vs. Cole rivalry stalled after the big reveal, though, as Cole was not cleared to compete and MJF took time off due to injury as well.

Both Cole and MJF made surprise appearances at Double or Nothing back in May, and MJF hit Cole with a low blow.

Cole still wasn't cleared to wrestle, so he was removed from AEW programming again, and while he was gone, MJF's short-lived face turn resulted in yet another heel turn.

A finally healthy Cole appeared at WrestleDream back in October by stopping MJF from attacking Daniel Garcia, which cemented a face turn for Cole.

On a recent episode of Dynamite, Cole and Kyle O'Reilly were the final two competitors in the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal, and they went on to face each other in a match for the right to take on MJF at Worlds End, which Cole won.

One year after Cole turned on MJF at Worlds End 2023, the former friends clashed at Worlds End 2024, and MJF got the last laugh by beating Cole to retain the Dynamite Diamond Ring.
