Baltimore Within Striking Distance of Pittsburgh for AFC North Crown

A loss by Pittsburgh to Philadelphia in Week 15, coupled with a dominant performance by the Baltimore Ravens against the hapless New York Giants, has set up a high-stakes matchup for Week 16 that could prove to be the deciding game in the hunt for the AFC North crown.

The Steelers bested the Ravens on November 17, narrowly escaping a physical battle by the score of 18-16.

Since then, Pittsburgh has been in the driver's seat, leading the AFC North and looking like it may finally win the division. That loss to the Eagles, and Baltimore's ability to keep pace with their hated foes, has the two teams on a collision course.

They clash Saturday in one of the most hotly anticipated games of the season.

The Ravens are one game out of the lead in the AFC North and a win Saturday would see them overtake Pittsburgh in the standings, dropping the Steelers into a wild-card spot. In that regard, the visiting team has everything to lose.

A loss and the Ravens remain in the playoff picture, in the same wild-card position they find themselves in. A win and they catapult to the No. 3 seed while the Steelers can go from hosting a playoff game to going on the road.

It is exactly the sort of thing you want to see from these two teams late in the season. There are stakes, established rivalry, physical style of play and playoff positioning up for grabs.

It does not get much better and the idea that both teams are very good and could easily see themselves knocking off even Kansas City Chiefs and representing the AFC only makes it better.
