Basketball Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman posted an apology to his daughter and United States soccer star Trinity Rodman on his Instagram page Thursday.

While he apologized he "wasn't the Dad you wanted me to be," he also suggested his daughter is being told to ignore his calls and attempts to reach out.

Here is the message in full:

"Sorry I wasn't the Dad you wanted me to be but either way I still tried and I still Try and Never will Stop. I will keep Trying even when you're being told as an adult not to respond to my phone calls. I will try even when it's difficult and if it takes a long time. I'm always here And tell you all the time rather it's your voice or voicemail how proud I am. I always had one wish and it was I wish my kids would call me and come see me. Hopefully one day I can get that. I'm here and I'm still trying pick up the phone you have my number, You see me calling, I'm still here Dennis RODMAN- Dad

"FYI: I watch you play All the time (actually flew in to watch you play and was told not to show up bc who I was with instead and me just wanting to support you So I watched you from my hotel balcony just to make everybody happy. I love All My Kids."

Trinity responded to the apology on social media (h/t TMZ), calling it a "joke" while further distancing herself from her father: "A joke. The response alone. And the attention. Wiping my hands with it I'm done. Thank you."

Dennis' apology was prompted by Trinity's appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, where she opened up about the struggles of being the ex-basketball star's daughter.

As Jamie Barton of CNN relayed, the younger Rodman said: "he's not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else. Hearing his voice is painful."

She also detailed how her father stopped providing financial support after he divorced her mother, Michelle Moyer, in 2012, and that she had to temporarily live out of a car.

"I think he's an extremely selfish human being," she said. "I think everything has always been about him."

Trinity Rodman also discussed a time when her father showed up unannounced at a Washington Spirit playoff game despite them not speaking for months. While photos of her embracing her father made headlines, she said she was upset in the moment and didn't hear from him again for years.

"When he showed up at my game, I was, like, so mad," she said. "I started crying on the field. So I'm trying to play the soccer game and I'm crying.

"I was so mad. I was like 'You took this happy moment from me. You f--ked with my head again. I'm walking over there (toward Dennis) so mad, like 'F--k you.' I walk over there, he grabs my head and I just start bawling into his arms as if it's a daddy-daughter (moment)."

Trinity Rodman is one of the biggest women's soccer stars in the world and helped the United States take home the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics with three goals and an assist in the tournament. She also scored the extra-time winner in the quarterfinals victory over Japan.

Dennis Rodman won five championships and two Defensive Player of the Year awards during his NBA career. He is widely seen as one of the best rebounders in NBA history and was a key part of Chicago Bulls dynasty alongside Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.
