Tyson Fury Weighs In at Career-High 281 Pounds for Oleksandr Usyk Rematch Fight
December 20, 2024
Tyson Fury is carrying some added weight ahead of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.
The British Boxer weighed in at a career-high 281 pounds ahead of Saturday's bout against Usyk for the unified heavyweight championship, per ESPN's Mike Coppinger. Fury previously weighed in at 277 pounds in 2020.
This is both fighters' first bout since Usyk defeated Fury via split decision in May. That was Fury's first career loss, dropping his record to 34-1-1. Usyk improved to 22-0 with the victory.
Fury weighed 262 pounds ahead of that fight but he maintained that the weight gain should only help him and that he is still in good shape.
"I'm pretty lean," Fury said, per Coppinger. "Other than the big beard, I'm doing well. I'm in good shape and I'm fit as a fiddle. I'll be ready for Saturday night."
Usyk weighed in at 226 pounds, up 2.5 pounds from May's clash. The heavyweight division has no weight limit, so neither fighter was at risk of being ineligible for the belts when they hit the scales.
Usyk will look to retain his titles when the main event gets underway at approximately 6 p.m. ET in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
