Fantasy News: Mason Rudolph Named Titans' QB1 over Will Levis vs. Jaguars in Week 17
December 24, 2024
Fantasy football managers depending on offensive players from the Tennessee Titans in Week 17 likely would welcome Tuesday's announcement from head coach Brian Callahan.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Callahan said veteran quarterback Mason Rudolph will remain the starter over Will Levis for the second straight week in Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Rudolph has thrown four touchdowns over the last two weeks since Levis was benched in Week 15 when he threw three interceptions in a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. In last week's start against the Indianapolis Colts, Rudolph almost led the Titans to a surprising comeback win before eventually falling short, 38-30.
Third-year tight end Chig Okonkwo appeared to develop a rapport with Rudolph, leading the team with nine catches for 81 yards on 11 targets in the loss to Indianapolis. Star receiver Calvin Ridley added three catches for 78 yards and a touchdown, his first time reaching the end zone since Week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Keeping Rudolph as the starter could spell the end of Levis' time in Tennessee. The 2023 second-round pick has struggled to establish himself as the team's franchise quarterback, so the Titans could target a signal-caller in the 2025 NFL draft.
The Titans and Jaguars are tied for the worst record in the AFC at 3-12 along with the New England Patriots and Las Vegas Raiders. At this point in the season, teams are playing with draft position in mind, so it's hard to predict how a game between two losing squads would play out.
Still, Rudolph being under center gives the Titans a better chance to succeed on offense against the Jaguars on Sunday.
