Video: Travis Kelce Breaks Tony Gonzalez's Chiefs Record for Most Receiving TDs
December 25, 2024
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce moved ahead of Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez for the most touchdown receptions in franchise history on Wednesday.
Kelce ran his career total to 77 with a 12-yard grab in the fourth quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The nine-time Pro Bowler hit another benchmark as he notched his 1,000th career reception.
Kelce honored Gonzalez by dunking the ball over the crossbar. That was the signature celebration for Gonzalez, who played basketball through his time in college at California.
With Kelce closing in on his mark, the retired pass-catcher said in November he'd be willing to pay any fine resulting from the celebration, which was banned in 2014.

Kelce had already broken Gonzalez's franchise records for catches and yards. The 35-year-old still has a way to go to be the most prolific tight end in NFL history, though.
Gonzalez, who spent his final five seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, is first at the position in receptions (1,325) and yards (15,127), while San Diego Chargers legend Antonio Gates set the pace in touchdowns with 116.
There are no guarantees Kelce will stick around long enough to chase down the all-time tight end records. He signed an extension with the Chiefs through 2025, and he signaled in the offseason he wants to continue playing "until the wheels fall off."
However, Kelce has also played his cards close to the chest when it comes to retirement and the physical toll of his 12-year career.
Regardless of how Kansas City's three-peat bid ends, it won't come as a total shock if the team's star tight end decides to hang up his cleats this spring.
