Jets' Davante Adams: 'Would be Dope' to Catch Aaron Rodgers' 500th Career TD Pass
December 27, 2024
New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams would be happy to catch the 500th career touchdown pass of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
"Obviously, I'd love to," Adams said on Friday, per ESPN's Rich Cimini. "I got 200, I got 400, so it would be dope to get 500 as well."
Rodgers needs one more touchdown pass to reach the milestone.
Adams spent the first eight years of his career with the four-time MVP on the Green Bay Packers, blossoming into a star on teams that made multiple deep playoff runs but ultimately fell short of a Super Bowl victory.
"We've had some special connections in the past, so it'd be great," Adams said, via Cimini. "And, obviously, it would be a big, big thing for him. Not that he needs more accolades and more milestones, but you might as well keep racking them up while you can."
The 32-year-old opened the 2024 season with the Las Vegas Raiders before he was acquired by the Jets in a trade on Oct. 15.
The move ultimately didn't turn New York's season around, as the team currently sits at 4-11. Adams still saw improvement on an individual level, averaging 79.9 receiving yards per game with the Jets compared to 69.7 yards per game with the Raiders.
Rodgers has been noncommittal regarding his future beyond the 2024 season, meaning that New York's final two regular-season games may be the last opportunity for him to reach 500 touchdown passes.
The 10-time Pro Bowl passer shouldn't have much trouble reaching the mark, as he's recorded a touchdown in each of his past 11 games.
Rodgers and Adams will attempt to connect in the end zone against a Buffalo Bills secondary allowing 229.5 yards per game through the air.
Kickoff between the Jets and Bills is on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
