Diontae Johnson Says He Had 'Good Time' With Ravens; Expects to Fit in With Texans
December 30, 2024
Diontae Johnson's time with the Baltimore Ravens likely didn't go how he hoped, but the wide receiver has no bitter feelings towards his former team and is looking forward to a "fresh start" with the Houston Texans.
"Fresh start here. I had a good time there," Johnson said. "I'm moving forward. I'm trying to win games and go forward and win games in the playoffs. I see myself fitting in real well."

Johnson started the season with the Carolina Panthers and performed decently well in his first seven games, pulling in 30 receptions for 357 yards and three touchdowns. The Panthers sent him to Baltimore ahead of the trade deadline in return for a 2025 fifth-round pick, and he never found his groove with the Ravens.
Johnson appeared in just four games for Baltimore, recording just one catch for six yards.
His limited role with the Ravens led to frustration for Johnson and he was later suspended one game for "refusing to enter" Baltimore's game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 1. A few weeks later, the Ravens excused Johnson from team activities before waiving him on Dec. 20.
The Texans, desperate for a receiver after Tank Dell suffered a season-ending knee injury, claimed Johnson off waivers last week, giving him another chance to salvage what has been a mostly disappointing season.
Johnson didn't play for the Texans' Christmas Day matchup but could make his debut in Houston's season-finale against the Tennessee Titans before the Texans start their playoff run.
Johnson at his best is a No. 1 receiving option who is good for around 1,000 yards in a season. He might not be that version of himself in Houston, but he'll look to be a reliable option for a team depleted by injuries.
