As the Phoenix Suns explore ways to make a deal for Jimmy Butler, there has been no thought on Bradley Beal's part thus far about helping them facilitate a trade.

Mark Bartelstein, Beal's agent, told ESPN's Brian Windhorst, neither he nor his client have had any discussions about waiving the no-trade clause in his contract.

"There have been no discussions about trades with the Suns or any other team," Bartelstein said. "Bradley's total focus is on helping the Suns turn things around."

Butler is currently serving a seven-game suspension imposed by the Miami Heat for conduct detrimental to the team. They also said they were exploring trades for the six-time All-Star.

Windhorst and Shams Charania reported on Jan. 2 that Butler wasn't going to provide the Heat with a list of preferred destinations because he is open to playing anywhere other than Miami.

It turns out Butler's desire to be withany other team didn't last very long. NBA insider Chris Haynes reported on Tuesday that a few clubs, including the Memphis Grizzlies, have been told Butler has "no interest" in playing for them.

Phoenix has been connected to Butler dating back to the summer. They are likely more appealing to him now because NBA insider Marc Stein recently noted Suns governor Mat Ishbia is believed to be willing to give him the contract extension he desires.

ESPN's Bobby Marks noted Butler could sign a two-year, $111 million extension with a new team if he gets traded.

The only way Phoenix could facilitate a trade for Butler is by including one of Beal, Kevin Durant or Devin Booker. There has been no indication the Suns want to move either Durant or Booker, leaving Beal as the odd-man out..

However, Beal holds all the cards because his contract contains a full no-trade clause. The 31-year-old was recently moved to a bench role by Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer in an attempt to improve the struggling defense with the starting unit.

Beal's contract is paying him $50.2 million this season and $53.7 million next season. He also has a $57.1 million player option for 2026-27. He's averaging 17.8 points on 48.5 percent shooting (39.1 percent from three) and 3.2 assists per game in 25 appearances this season.

The Suns have lost 11 of their last 15 games and fallen to 12th in the Western Conference standings with a 16-19 overall record.
