Commanders vs. Lions: Odds, Box Score Stat Predictions for 2025 NFC Divisional Game

0 of 3

    Bleacher Report

The Washington Commanders and Detroit Lions are projected to play in the highest-scoring game of the NFL divisional round.

The over/under for Saturday night's clash inside Ford Field is four points higher than the next-highest total set for the four games this weekend.

Detroit comes into the postseason with five straight 30-point performances and 10 total games with 30 or more points this season.

Washington consistently eclipsed the 20-point mark in Jayden Daniels' rookie season, especially on the road, where it has hit that number in eight of nine road games.

The biggest question mark hovering over the game is how Detroit's defense will perform.

The Lions held the Minnesota Vikings to nine points in Week 18, but that was just the third time they held an opponent to a single-digit total this season.

Washington is going up against a Detroit defense that only allowed 142 passing yards to the Vikings in Week 18.

Detroit gave up three straight 300-yard passing performances prior to Week 18, so the Commanders' effectiveness will come down to how well the Lions secondary plays.

Terry McLaurin led the Commanders in targets and receptions and was tied with Dyami Brown for the team lead in receiving yards in the wild-card win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brown's performance was the biggest surprise of the wild-card round. He came into the postseason with only two 50-yard performances this season.

If Detroit shuts down McLaurin, Jayden Daniels should turn to Zach Ertz and Austin Ekeler as checkdown options. Ertz and Ekeler each had four targets last week.

The one certainty inside the Washington offense is that Daniels will use his legs. He had 36 rushing yards on 13 carries in the wild-card round. Four of Daniels' six highest rush attempt counts came on the road.

    Stat Predictions

Jayden Daniels: 211 passing yards, 50 rushing yards

Terry McLaurin: 5 receptions, 45 receiving yards

Zach Ertz: 4 receptions, 30 receiving yards

Lions Stat Predictions

3 of 3

DETROIT, MICHIGAN - JANUARY 05: Jahmyr Gibbs #26 of the Detroit Lions runs the ball up the field in the third quarter of a game against the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field on January 05, 2025 in Detroit, Michigan. (Photo by Mike Mulholland/Getty Images)

Detroit has one of the most efficient offenses in the NFL.

Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs are the primary contributors to the offense, but Jared Goff has easily spread the ball around to others as well.

David Montgomery's return is huge for the Lions to attack the Commanders in every which way possible, but Gibbs should still have plenty of opportunities to put up a high yardage total.

Gibbs comes into the playoffs with three straight 100-yard rushing games. He has five touchdowns in that span and at least four receptions in each of those contests.

St. Brown had 110, 77 and 87 receiving yards in his three postseason appearances last season.

Detroit's top pass-catcher was targeted on 43 occasions in the last four regular-season games. He will be targeted close to 10 times on Saturday.

Sam LaPorta, Jameson Williams and others will be involved in some capacity, but Gibbs and St. Brown are the main guys.

    Stat Predictions:

Amon-Ra St. Brown: 8 receptions, 90 receiving yards, TD

Jahmyr Gibbs: 80 rushing yards, 40 receiving yards, TD
