Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce paid quarterback Patrick Mahomes the ultimate compliment this week.

In an interview with ESPN's Chris Berman (beginning at 3:05 mark of the video), Kelce gave his thoughts on where Mahomes stands among the best quarterbacks in history, saying: "He's the greatest to ever do it, and you can't change my mind otherwise."

Kelce went on to add that Mahomes is as "great of a person off the field as he is on the field."

Mahomes became the Chiefs' starting quarterback seven seasons ago, and Kelce has consistently been his favorite target ever since then. That has led to a great deal of overall team success with the Chiefs reaching four Super Bowls and winning three of them during that time.

While Mahomes has a ways to go before reaching the level of legendary New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, who has seven Super Bowl wins and is the all-time NFL leader in passing yardage and passing touchdowns, it can be argued that Mahomes is already in the conversation for the No. 2 spot behind him.

Over the course of Mahomes' eight NFL seasons—seven of which he has spent as the starter—the former Texas Tech standout is a six-time Pro Bowler, two-time First Team All-Pro, two-time NFL MVP, three-time Super Bowl champ and three-time Super Bowl MVP.

He has also thrown for 32,352 yards, 245 touchdowns and 75 interceptions, and he boasts a career playoff record of 15-3, all at the age of 29.

This season was a down year for Mahomes by his lofty standards, as he threw for 3,928 yards and 26 touchdowns, which were career lows for him when accounting for his seasons as the full-time starter, plus he threw 11 interceptions.

Despite that, Kansas City went 15-2 and secured the No. 1 seed in the AFC yet again, meaning it will have home-field advantage until the Super Bowl.

Like Mahomes, the 35-year-old Kelce also failed to put up his usual top-flight stat line this season, as his 823 yards and three touchdowns were career lows aside from his rookie season when he appeared in one game, but he and Mahomes have a knack for turning it on in the biggest moments.

Neither Mahomes nor Kelce had elite regular seasons in 2023, but Mahomes threw for 1,051 yards, six touchdowns and one pick in four playoff games, while Kelce had 32 catches for 355 yards and three scores.

The all-time greats always seem to play their best when the lights are brightest, which is why it is tough to argue against the notion that Mahomes and Kelce are two of the best of all time at their respective positions.

On Saturday, Mahomes and Kelce will begin their quest for a third straight Super Bowl win and a fourth Super Bowl triumph overall when they host the Houston Texans in the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs.
