Coco Gauff is one win away from landing in her fourth semifinal in the last six Grand Slam events.
The third-seeded American pulled off a three-set victory on Sunday to move into the 2025 Australian Open quarterfinal.
Gauff and Tommy Paul became the first two Americans to reach the final eight. Paul put together an incredible straight-set win to clinch a spot in the men's quarterfinals.
Five other Americans have an opportunity to book their tickets in the quarterfinals on Monday as the fourth round wraps up.
The other major development in Melbourne on Sunday was the formation of a quarterfinal match between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.
Djokovic, Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev are all still alive in the bottom half of the men's singles bracket along with Paul.

Tommy Paul secured his third-career Grand Slam quarterfinal berth with one of his best-ever matches in a major tournament.
The 12th-seeded American blew past Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets. He only lost three games across the three sets he played on Sunday.
Paul now needs to beat Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals to match his career-best finish at a major. He previously reached the final four in Australia in 2023.
Zverev is into the final eight in Melbourne for the fourth time in six years. The No. 2 seed needed four sets to get past Ugo Humbert on Sunday.
The Zverev-Paul winner takes on the Novak Djokovic-Carloz Alcaraz winner in the semifinals.
Djokovic and Alcaraz set up a blockbuster clash with their respective wins on Sunday.
Djokovic advanced to the final eight through a straight-set victory, while Alcaraz moved on after two sets after Jack Draper retired.
Djokovic owns a 4-3 edge in the head-to-head matchup with Alcaraz. They haven't met earlier than the semifinals at a Grand Slam.
