Dwight Howard Responds to Lakers' Anthony Davis: 'Ain't That Hard' to Find Center
January 24, 2025
Dwight Howard may have an idea to solve the Los Angeles Lakers' depth issues at center.
After Lakers center Anthony Davis said that the team needs "another big" so he can slide over to power forward, Howard took to X to reference the issue and claim that a fix "ain't that hard."
While that could be in reference to the options available on the trade market, Howard's past experience as a Lakers center could signal that he at least has a cursory interest in the position.
Howard last played in the NBA in 2021-22 with the Lakers in what was his third stint with the franchise. He spent 2022-23 with the Taoyuan Leopards of the T1 League in Taiwan and did not play in 2023-24 despite interest in Australia, the Philippines and Mexico. He has not played yet this season, but has not officially retired.
Howard averaged 15.7 points, 11.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in his 18-season NBA career and was an eight-time All-Star, five-time rebounding champion and three-time Defensive Player of the Year.
With Howard well past his prime and quality options like Jonas Valanciunas and Nikola Vucevic, among others, lingering on the trade market, it's hard to see any scenario where the 39-year-old is suiting up in purple and gold soon.
