Scottie Scheffler Expected to Return from Injury at PGA Tour's Pebble Beach Pro-Am
January 24, 2025
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has committed to playing in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am after missing a pair of 2025 season starts following recovery from right hand surgery.
Ron Kroichick of the San Francisco Chronicle reported the news on Friday.
Scheffler previously told reporters that he suffered the injury after breaking a glass while making ravioli with his family on Christmas Day. He had surgery to remove the glass fragments from his hand.
Scheffler is trying to build off a phenomenal 2024 calendar year in which he won nine times, including victory at the Masters for a second green jacket and an Olympic gold medal. He's also a two-time Players champion and Arnold Palmer Invitational winner now too. Unsurprisingly, Scheffler's exploits were good enough to earn his first-ever FedEx Cup too.
Scheffler's 2025 season got off to a delayed start, but thankfully, he won't have to sit too long before getting going.
Certainly, Scheffler has his eyes on other prizes this year as well. He's notably come close to winning the U.S. Open and PGA Championship, finishing second in each tournament in 2022 and 2023, respectively. He's finished Top 10 in the U.S. Open three times and the PGA Championship on four occasions. Scheffler also finished a career-best T7 at The Open Championship this past year.
For now, though, Scheffler is ramping up for his debut. He gave some reporters details on his rehab last Monday, per Brentley Romine for Golf Channel.
"Just want to make sure I'm getting back to normal, progressing the right way in recovery," Scheffler said. "I'm definitely anxious to get back, excited to get back, but I'm also not going to rush back just to rush back."
Scheffler also talked about getting back to the gym post-injury.
"It was pretty unusual for me not to be able to do much in the gym," Scheffler said. "I was still able to get in there and do some movement stuff and some of the stuff I usually do with my legs, but as far as upper body goes, I'm not going to go and just work out the left side of my body and come into the season walking like this [leaning to the right]."
Gabby Herzig of The Athletic relayed some video of Scheffler working out.
Gabby Herzig @GabbyHerzigI *think* this is the first sighting of Scottie Scheffler since he cut his hand on Christmas Day and had to get surgery. Looks like he's wearing some sort of cover/brace

(Via Scottie's trainer, Dr. Troy - chirosporttbv on IG) pic.twitter.com/krXn9zgU6E
Ultimately, the good news is that Scheffler will get the season going in earnest Thursday, when he tees up at Pebble Beach.
