    Bleacher Report

The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will meet for the second time in three years in the Super Bowl on February 9.

Kansas City began its latest run of titles with a win over the Eagles in Super Bowl 57.

The Chiefs come into New Orleans with a three-peat on the line, while the Eagles are searching for their second title in the last decade.

The clash inside the Superdome will be the 12th time the two franchises face off.

Typically, the Chiefs and Eagles face each other once every four years, but Super Bowl 59 will mark the third time in three years the two sides square off.

The Chiefs own the advantage in the all-time head-to-head series with the Eagles.

Kansas City is 6-5 versus Philadelphia and it possesses the only postseason win in the historical matchup from Super Bowl 57.

The typical time frame for Chiefs-Eagles matchups is every four years when the AFC West and NFC East play each other in the NFL's schedule rotation.

Most of Kansas City's victories in the series came in recent meetings. The Chiefs are 4-1 in the last five battles.

However, the Eagles own the most-recent win in the series from the 2023 regular season.

Super Bowl 57 and the rematch that followed in the 2023 regular season were the two most-recent matchups between the Eagles and Chiefs.

The Chiefs won their second title of the Patrick Mahomes era on February 12, 2023 in Glendale, Arizona.

Mahomes and Co. won the Vince Lombardi Trophy with a 38-35 win in which the Chiefs scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to complete a comeback.

Philadelphia won the regular-season meeting in 2023 at Arrowhead Stadium by a 21-17 score.

The Eagles held the Chiefs scoreless in the second half in that victory. Both Mahomes and Jalen Hurts were held under 200 passing yards.

The difference in November 2023 was the Eagles' rushing attack, which totaled 114 yards and three touchdowns thanks to Hurts and D'Andre Swift.

It's difficult to bet against Mahomes in any postseason setting.

Mahomes proved time and time again that he can find a way to put the Chiefs in a winning position.

That was on display in Super Bowl 57, when the Chiefs put together one of the best fourth quarters in NFL championship history.

The Eagles are better equipped to compete with the Chiefs this time around because they have Saquon Barkley at running back.

At minimum, the Eagles should keep the game close because of how dominant Barkley has been on the ground this season.

Kansas City captured its last two titles by a field goal, so it would not be surprising at all to see Super Bowl 59 come down to the final few possessions.
