Super Bowl 2025: Examining Average Ticket Prices and Most Expensive Commercials

    Bleacher Report

If you haven't already heard, Super Bowl LIX is rapidly approaching. The NFL's championship game is scheduled for Sunday evening, and it promises to be a thrilling event for fans in attendance and for those watching at home.

Super Bowl LIX is also shaping up to be a very expensive affair. While ticket prices have dropped this week, they're still far pricier than tickets to a regular-season contest. The Fox national broadcast can be viewed for free over the air.

The cost to air commercials during the Fox broadcast, however, is substantial.

Here, we'll dive into the upcoming matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, the cost to attend the game in New Orleans and some of the most expensive commercials expected to air.

Who: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs

    When: Sunday, February 9

    Time: 6:30 p.m. ET

Where: Caesars Superdome in New Orleans

TV and Live Stream: Fox, Telemundo, Fox Deportes, NFL+

The Eagles and Chiefs met two years ago in Super Bowl LVII, making Sunday's game a rematch of sorts. However, the two teams have changed since their last Championship matchup.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Chiefs signal-caller Patrick Mahomes will face off once again. Standouts like Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Eagles receiver A.J. Brown, Kansas City defensive lineman Chris Jones and Philadelphia safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson will be back as well.

Yet, the Chiefs have morphed into more of a defensive team over the last two years, while the Eagles experienced a significant offseason overhaul this past offseason. Philly added new offensive and defensive coordinators—Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio, respectively—reloaded their defense and added running back Saquon Barkley.

Kansas City finished the regular season ranked ninth in total defense and fourth in points allowed, while Philadelphia finished first and second in those categories. Fans should expect a more methodical game than the 38-35 score-fest they saw in Super Bowl LVII.

Fans may also witness a bit of history. Barkley needs just 30 rushing yards to break Terrell Davis' record for the most rushing yards in a season (regular season and playoffs).

"If he's able to break the record and win a Super Bowl, that's like the best of both of both worlds," former NFL running back Jonathan Stewart said, per USA Today's Tyler Dragon.

The Chiefs, meanwhile, can become the first team in league history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.

The Super Bowl is always big, but Super Bowl LIX could be particularly memorable, regardless of which team hoists the Lombardi Trophy at the end.

Tickets to the Super Bowl are always pricey, in part because the game has become a global entertainment event in addition to a championship contest. This year's halftime show, for example, will feature hip-hop superstar and recent Grammy winner Kendrick Lamar.

Lamar's performance figures to be memorable in its own right.

"Everyone will agree this is a halftime show like none other in Super Bowl halftime history," the show's executive producer, Jesse Collins, said, per Rohan Nadkarni of NBC News.

Add in a chance to witness history and the big-city charm of New Orleans, and it's no surprise that tickets are in demand.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the cheapest tickets available on Vivid Seats were $3,111. The highest single-seat tickets were north of $36,000.

According to ESPN's J.J. Post, the median ticket price for Super Bowl LIX, as of Monday, was $6.304. While that's certainly not cheap, the median price hasn't out-paced those of recent years.

"According to Vivid Seats' data, the median ticket price for Super Bowl LIX seven days from kickoff is actually the cheapest of any one-week-out median price for a Super Bowl since 2020," Post wrote.

What's more, prices have actually fallen since last week—a 28.8-percent decrease, according to USA Today's Jordan Mendoza.

There may be a few reasons why prices are down. For one, the Chiefs have become a Super Bowl mainstay, and a rematch with the Eagles may not intrigue some fans as much as, say, a showdown between the Buffalo Bills and Washington Commanders.

It's also worth noting that last year's big game was held in Las Vegas, a prime destination for even the most casual of fans.

None of this means that Super Bowl LIX won't be packed with fans or the most-watched television event of the year.

The Super Bowl is always a massive television draw. Last year's game, for example, drew an estimated 123.7 million viewers, according to Neilsen.

That's why companies pay heavily for the chance to advertise during the Super Bowl broadcast. Things will be no different this year. According to Brian Steinberg of Variety, Fox Corp. has sold at least 10 ad spots during the Super Bowl for more than $8 million.

"[The Super Bowl] is the only place where you can aggregate legitimate scale with one commercial," Fox Sports' executive vice president of sales Mark Evans said, per Steinberg. "It's not like any other thing."

While it's currently unclear which companies have shelled out the most for Super Bowl LIX advertisements, 50 brands will see airtime, according to Pamela N. Danziger of Forbes.

The reported list features familiar-to-football-fans brands like Doritos, Reese's, Bud Light, Budweiser, Dunkin', Little Caesars, Mountain Dew, FanDuel and Angel Soft. However, auto-makers and mobile phone companies will largely be absent, according to Danziger—with no mobile plans being advertised and Jeep and Rams comprising the entire automobile list.

While some notable brands will be sitting out the Super Bowl this year, fans can expect the usual parade of celebrities.

"It's a shortcut to get people's attention, to get people really excited, and to really say what your brand stands for in tying it to a personality," Brynna Aylward of ad agency Adam&EveDDB said, per Lara O'Reilly and Mackenzie Meaney of Business Insider.

According to Business Insider, fans can expect to see the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Charli XCX, Kevin Bacon, Shaboozey and Martha Stewart during Super Bowl LIX commercial breaks.

Presumably, fans can expect a few surprises in the mix as well.
