FA Cup Draw 2019 Schedule: 5th-Round Fixtures and Dates Released

FA Cup holders Chelsea will face Manchester United in the marquee fixture of the 2018-19 FA Cup fifth round.

Premier League champions Manchester City were drawn against the winner of the replay between Middlesbrough and Newport County, while Watford visit the winner of the tie between Queens Park Rangers and Portsmouth.

Here's a look at the full draw (Barnet and Brentford will play their tie Monday night, while there are four more fourth-round replays still to come):

Per the FA's official website, the fifth-round fixtures will be played on the weekend of 16 February.

According to BBC Sport's Neil Johnston the fifth round will not have any replays, with all matches played to a conclusion.

There's little doubt which fixture neutral fans will look forward to the most. With just a handful of Premier League teams left in the draw a clash between elite clubs was unlikely, but the draw served up a mouth-watering tie between Chelsea and United.

As shared by sportswriter John Bennett, it was great news for the smaller clubs left in the draw and should give the Premier League's also-rans food for thought:

United have a perfect record since the introduction of interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but that may actually work against them in the FA Cup. A top-four finish in the Premier League suddenly seems possible and the UEFA Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain no longer as daunting; the Norwegian could opt to rest his key starters in the cup.

The Blues will also have to balance the Premier League and UEFA Europa League. The cup fixtures will take place just days after the first legs of the European competitions.

It will likely give City a chance to rest their starters against either Middlesbrough or Newport. The former are chasing a play-off spot in the Championship and may opt to focus on that competition, while the latter are cruising along in League Two with a safe buffer between themselves and the relegation zone.

City fans will have the opportunity to scout both teams when they battle it out in the replay on 5 February:

League One Doncaster Rovers were unlucky with their draw, as Crystal Palace will provide a difficult challenge without yielding the players a unique visit to a Premier League stadium. They were likely hoping for an elite club or a side from a lower division.

Non-league Barnet will be rewarded with a trip to Swansea if they can beat Brentford on Monday night.
